Archipelagic Island Country: Seychelles Stamps issued by British Indian Ocean Territory

Seychelles is an archipelagic island country in the Indian Ocean. It is located at the eastern edge of the Somali Sea. It comprises 115 islands. Its largest city is the capital called Victoria.Its culture and society are an amalgamation of French, British, and African. It also has Chinese and Indian influences because of the large number of tourists from these places. Staple foods include fish, seafood, and shellfish dishes along with rice. The traditional way of cooking fish is in banana leaves. The most popular sport in Seychelles is Basketball.
Interestingly, their societies and families are dominated by women. The group of islands faced competition for French and British interests until coming under full British control in the late 18th century. The country acquired independence from the British in 1976. After independence, the GDP grew nearly sevenfold and the purchasing power of people increased nearly sixteen times.
